I created the music video for an ambient jazz piece. The piece was composed from session recordings with multi-instrumentalist Antti Kero.
The piece was created for a promotional video, which I also sound designed. The video promotes a wooden stair design and construction company. For this reason I chose wooden instruments for the melody.
This is a two minute excerpt of the 16 minute track. The artist needed music for her Christmas themed performances. Besides the holiday feel the track needed to convey S/M overtones, and be exciting enough to make her move.
I began the work by playing with the notes of Jingle Bells, and soon the basslines revealed themselves. The rhythm is relaxed but able to carry the action forward. Slowly and definitely the details and structures appear. Tribal and ancient elements add to the suggestive and tempting mystery, which teasingly stays just out of reach.
The music sets and supports the stage, but doesn’t take it.
Talvisoolo (Winter solo) was composed for an acrobatic fire performer (a member of Trio Taika). The track was created in co-operation with Visa Oscar. The world freezes and thaws in a dialogue with a fiery soul.
A lot of icy material was employed as rhythms, ambiences and melodies. Some of it was retrieved from the Live Antarctic Stream of AWI.
The track uses samples from following Freesound contributors: Black_Boe, c97059890, Corsica_S, deer, Dynamicell, gelo_papas, laurent, scarbelly25 and soalicesays
